Spent this arvo wandering around Hue. Its more like Bali and less like Vietnam.
The crowd here is younger, hipper, and they pump the music loud. There are more people constantly approaching us on the street wishing to sell us something - postcards, posters, bookmarks, sunnies, lighters, etc. The annoying thing is they ask me to buy "only $1", I say no, so they ask Tony the same thing, he says no, so they ask me again. Then when we have walked around the block and come across them again, they ask us the same thing!! Kinda frustrating. Initially we both smiled, said no thank you and kept walking, now we have dropped the talk and just smile and shake our heads.
We had a few beers at a place a few westerners seemed to hang out at. Maybe its the comfort thing to have familiar faces around. Then we went to possiblyl the worst restaurant in Vietnam:
* After we ordered they disappeared on their motorbike for what seemed like ages. We didnt know what was going on but they must have been missing a few ingredients and had to go out to buy them.
* Then the food finally arrived and the rice paper was dried out. We were to make up rice paper rolls out selves but as the paper was not wet is was tricky.
* It was stinking hot but they only brought out a fan after we had finished our meal.
* The dessert was fairly ordinary and we were disappointed with the ice cream as it said "coconut milk ice cream" in the menu but it was only good old fashion normal milk.
* When they billed us, they added on 2 extra beers - just for good luck.
Boy when you have an AMAZING night you cant complain when other things go wrong.
Off to Hoi An tomorrow.
